Welcome to PetFiles ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

We collect the following types of information:

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name and email address.

Pet Information: Information you voluntarily provide about your pets, including name, species, breed, date of birth, weight, color, microchip number, medical history, medications, allergies, veterinarian details, and emergency contacts.

Health Records & Documents: Medical records, vaccine certificates, insurance documents, prescriptions, and other files you upload to the Service.

Photos: Pet photos you choose to upload.

Reminders: Reminder titles, due dates, types, and recurrence settings you create within the app.

Community Listings (PetFiles Connect): If you post a listing (lost/found, adoption, or rehoming), we collect the content you provide including pet details, location (city, state, ZIP code), contact information, and photos.

Usage Data: We may collect information about how you access and use the Service, including device type, operating system, app version, and general usage patterns.

Payment Information: Subscription payments are processed by third-party payment processors. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service

• Process and manage your account and subscriptions

• Send you health reminders and notifications you have opted into

• Enable community features such as lost & found and adoption listings

• Respond to your customer support requests

• Improve and personalize the Service

• Comply with legal obligations

• Detect and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized use

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers: We may share information with trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery, payment processing). These providers are contractually required to protect your information.

Community Listings: Information you include in a public PetFiles Connect listing (including contact name, location, and photos) is visible to other users of the Service.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

With Your Consent: We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers. We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

Uploaded files, photos, and documents are stored using secure cloud storage and are accessible only to your account unless you explicitly share them via a community listing.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes.

Community listing data may be retained for a short period after a listing is resolved or deleted to prevent abuse.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you

• Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data

• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (you can also delete your account directly in-app via Settings → Delete Account)

• Opt-Out of Notifications: Manage email notification preferences in Settings → Notification Settings

• Data Portability: Request a portable copy of your data

PetFiles is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data without parental consent, please contact us at hello@thepetfiles.app and we will take steps to remove that information.

The Service may integrate with or link to third-party services (such as payment processors and cloud storage providers). These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use in connection with PetFiles.

PetFiles is operated in the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to such transfer.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, by sending you an email notification. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
